Strength lies in differences

A long time ago, I heard we are all either left-brain, or right-brain thinkers. Even though I know the science behind the myth, the idea stayed with me, causing something of an internal battle.

On the one hand, I’m methodical, organised, a master of lists. A true Executive Personal Assistant and definite left-brain thinker. My left brain has been supporting businesses for over 30 years from SMEs and entrepreneurs, to MDs and board-level Execs in multi-national blue chips.

All the while, living alongside has been my creative, artistic self – a visual thinker and artist with a keen attention to context that absolutely screams right-brainer. Whether it’s seasonal decorating, re-creating those cool ads you see on the Tellybox, or creating stock for my Etsy shop, being a creator is at my core, running through me like “Margate” runs through a stick of rock.

For years, I’ve felt my two sides should remain separate. My left-brain dominant, telling me that business is “serious” and artistic pursuits were a fickle time-waster. The two did not belong in the same workspace.

But no more!

The world has changed and what once seemed impossible is now a reality.

The Admin Witch brings together two, almost polar opposite businesses in a way that perhaps pre-Covid, wasn’t readily accepted. But if the last few years have taught us anything, it’s that life is too short.

We are free to be different and different is good! To quote Stephen Covey: “There are strengths in differences, not in similarities”.
